Do I have to appear in person to sign the contract?
It is not necessary to be present in person when the contract is signed. It is currently still possible to conclude the contract online, which means that the identification of the client and the authentication of the client’s signature, which is necessary for the lawyer’s countersignature for the land registry, are carried out online.
If one of the parties is unable to be present in person when the contract is concluded, he or she can be represented by a proxy at the signing of the contract and during any subsequent administrative procedures that may be necessary. The power of attorney must be in the same form as the instrument which the agent signs (e.g. since a contract of sale is countersigned by a lawyer, the power of attorney for this purpose must also be at least in the form countersigned by a lawyer).
